Last day of second grade!

Wow! That year flew by...I can't even believe Ashton is already done with 2nd grade.
What a great year he had. I am so so proud of him!
I think the last day of school is just as exciting as the first. I went and dropped him off, then Gunnar and I went into his class to give Mrs. Olson her teacher appreciation gift. We got her movie tickets & some chocolate bars and Ashton wanted to make her a card and put the picture of him and her at his soccer game in it...
She was such a great teacher for Ashton and we were so grateful for her all year.
Then at the end of the day we went and picked him up and got to see who Gunnar will have for kindergarten next year.
He got the same teacher Ashton had...Mrs. Coburn and will also go in the afternoon. Which is what I prefer.
When we found Ashton he excitedly told me that he got Mrs. Rees for 3rd grade. He said that's who he was hoping for. I actually don't know who she is, but had heard great things about her from friends.
After school we went to Wal-Mart because Ashton has really been needing (wanting) some new markers...he is loving drawing lately. And we grabbed some lunch from Subway and took it to a park with a bunch of friends and stayed for about 4 hours. The boys had so much fun running around and playing (oh and coloring with their new markers :).
Gunnar found out that at least one of the little boys from his soccer team will be in his class and possibly another one too, so he was really excited about that.
There was a kid that had a whole Quidditch game set up too, so Ashton was loving that. (it's the game they play in all of the Harry Potter books).
That night Lars let the boys have a late night. He was so nice he didn't even give them a limit to how many kids they could invite, so we ended up having 11 boys running around including ours!!
(lovely sign Ashton made...)
It was a bit wild, but they had a lot of fun playing on the tramp, then playing badminton and volleyball.
I had made that big strawberry cake dessert, so they all had some of that then came in and watched Home Alone 3.
So I would say they had a fun day!
Now let the summer fun begin!

Mother's Day...2013

I just realized I forgot to post about Mother's Day. One of my favorite days of the year :)
I got to sleep in till 8:00 (yes that is sleeping in these days!) then woke up to Lars and the boys bringing me breakfast in bed and all of their cute homemade gifts...my favorite!

(excited to go get my massage and pedicure when I get a chance and finally get some new music for my ipod!)
We had gone to church the night before, so after we ate breakfast I just laid around for a couple hours. I never get to do that anymore, it was so nice!
Then we finally got up and got ready for the day and went up
Blacksmith Fork canyon and had a little bbq and the boys shot bb guns.
I even shot one for the first time ever!
It was a beautiful day that and I just found myself being so grateful. Grateful for my own Mom who has taught me so very much through her example and words. And for my Stepmom and for Lars' Mom who raised a great son!
And of course for God for blessing me with my two healthy boys making me a Mom after years of praying that I could be...to me it is the best job in the world!
Oh and Lars made this for our dessert...yum!

Fire Station Tour...

Last week Lars was going through and making sure Ashton had everything checked off to earn his Wolf for scouts, and the last thing he still needed to do was visit a Fire Station. So he asked me if I would try to take him before Wednesday. Gunnar and I had met Kelli in Ogden on Monday for lunch...
, so on the way back I called and scheduled an appt. to do the tour for that afternoon at 4:00. So we headed out after school. We invited Jace to come along with us.
It was really fun and informative...the boys all loved it!

More photoshoots!

More pictures I've taken in the past couple weeks...
One of my friends from high school who lives around here asked me to take some pictures of her kids last week. They were so cute! And cooperative too...they were excited to get their pictures taken :)
And then a couple more cute kids of a friend...how adorable
is his little suit?!

The end of soccer...

The boys were each supposed to have their last soccer games on Saturday, but they weren't going to be able to go because of Ashton's First Communion that day. And it ended up raining hard all morning and off and on all day, so they ended up getting cancelled anyway.
It was a fun season for both of them!
Ashton wrote his teacher Mrs. Olson a cute note inviting her to come to his last game and he was so excited that she showed up and was able to stay for half of it!
 Gunnar's cute little team :)

Ashton's First Holy Communion...

Ashton has been preparing for months for a very important day in his life as a Catholic, and last Saturday that day finally came. He received his First Holy Communion. It was such a special day.
The mass was at 10:00 am at our church St. Thomas Aquinas in Hyde Park.
Ashton and I had gone to the practice the night before after Gunnar's preschool graduation.
Grandma, and Nana & Papa were all able to be here for it too. Aunt Kelli planned to come too, but got the stomach flu really bad the day before :(
Some pictures from the day...
Seems like we were just having him baptized as a tiny baby, and now he's 8!
After we got home we had a yummy lunch of pulled bbq chicken sandwiches, fruit, chips, veggie pizza, potato salad, coleslaw and cupcakes. Grandma and Nana & Papa stayed for that, then needed to head home.
Me on my First Communion Day...a lot of years ago!
I am always so so grateful for our faith in our lives and that we are passing
it onto our boys! And so glad that Ashton can now participate in the Eucharist with us every weekend at Mass. :)
