Mothers Picnic last week...

All last week at Ashton's school they celebrated Moms and on Thursday we were all invited to a Mother's picnic at the park with the kids. Ashton and I had to bring something for sharing that we like to do together so we decided to bring our paper bag puppets that we'd made together a few months ago since one of his favorite things to do with me is craft projects. We picked up some lunch on the way, then headed over to Willow Park.
After we ate our lunch the teachers gave the kids their Mom gifts that they had made to give to us. Here's what Ashton made for me. I love it! Can't you just see "Cheeeeeeese" coming out of him when they took this picture of him?
Then it was time to go play so Ashton headed straight for the swings of course. Since he's learned how to swing in a "big boy" swing, that's all he wants to do at the park. Of course he still wants someone to push him because he hasn't quite mastered pumping yet. His teacher Jasmine was pushing him for awhile while I was pushing Gunnar. Then I had to laugh when I went over to push him, she said to me that he said he didn't think he was allowed to have an underdog (you know where you push them high and run underneath them)! He'd never had one before and didn't really know what it was since I'd never done it before knowing that once I did that would be all he'd ever want me to do! ha!(I'm such a mean Mom!)
So after we laughed about it, she gave him one and he was so excited to come home and tell Lars that Teacher Jasmine gave him an underdog!
Gunnar was having lots of fun swinging too. Thanks for the pushes Jace!
All the kids loved it when they got out the parachute......then after playing a little more it was time to head home.
I can't belive in a couple weeks Ashton's first year of preschool will be over!

Weekend Stuff...

This past weekend we got a babysitter Friday night and went out with our friends Mat and Lori that we haven't hung out with for a long time. We went to Firehouse for dinner, then we talked the guys into going to see Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. I thought it was pretty cute, but I think Lars could have done without it.
Saturday we had plans to meet Lars' family at the zoo in Salt Lake, but it rained HARD most of the day, so we decided to meet at the Gateway instead and take the kids to the Discovery Children's Museum. What a fun place! If you haven't been and you're down that way, you should definitely check it out. It had so many fun things for the kids to do. And honestly I'm kind of glad it rained because although the zoo would have been fun too, this place was way more up Ashton's alley. He loved all the hands on stuff.

Getting his groceries at the little store...And ringing them up...After we'd been there for a couple hours we took off and went to P.F. Changs for lunch, then went back and let them play some more. I think Gunnar loved it as much as the rest of them! Here he is on the world's slowest slide...loving every second of it!My moment as a weather girl...Our family broadcasting the news...Ashton was cracking us up with his little broadcast...I could totally see this as his job when he grows up...Or a talk show host! You all know how he never stops talking...It was a fun day! Thanks for meeting us you guys :)

On our way home we stopped off at Nielsen's frozen Custard (I think that's what it's called). Some of Lars' friends told us to go there, so we tried it out. It was good, but we still like hard ice cream better :)

Baby Tattoos...

These pictures were from awhile ago, but I came across them and remembered that back when I took them I had wanted to post them. It was a day that we had been inside all day and I was trying to find something to do to entertain Ashton & Gunnar before dinner. So I found Ashton's fake tattoos from his Christmas stocking and put a few on each of them. They were just too cute on Gunnar and it was funny to me that right after I put them on him he immediately went over and grabbed this red car and pushed it all over the floor for about half an hour while making the car sound effects that I swear are built in to all little boys!
Don't worry the tattoos washed right off in the bath the next day.

Vroom Vroom!

First Swimming Lessons...

We never did get around to putting Ashton in swimming lessons last summer, so I decided to get him in the beginning session this spring. We're trying it out at Mountain Crest and so far it's going good. I like that it goes for 4 weeks and he just goes 2 days a week for 35 minutes. Assmuming he passes on to level 2 we'll probably put him in the next session too or maybe later this summer.
(Even though he informed me that he doesn't really need to take lessons since he
"already knows how to swim.")
He couldn't stop smiling when his teacher first took him out in the water...

But then she had him try to dunk his head under and he sucked in a bunch of water...oops! He cried for awhile but then he was fine.Happy again waiting for his next turn with his teacher Elizabeth (easy name for me to remember Beth!)

Visitors...

The past couple of weeks we have had some family come to visit us and it has been lots of fun! Especially for Ashton and Gunnar...they love to see new people other than Mommy and Daddy.
First my little brother Jordan stopped by for an afternoon on his way back to Missoula from Evanston. Long enough to get his hair cut and play with the boys for a little while. Ashton LOVES it when he comes...but Jordan tends to always be a little behind schedule so if he says he's going to get to our house sometime in the morning, he usually actually arrives in the afternoon, so I get to hear from Ashton over and over again "When is Uncle Jordan EVER going to get here???" Then when he finally does he can't stop smiling. It was fun to see you Jordan!

Then last week my sister Kelli and her fiance' Jimmy came to see us and stayed a couple nights on their way from Farmington, New Mexico to Boise, Idaho. They are both traveling nurses and are going there for their next job.

It will be nice to have them closer so we can try to see them more often. Ashton and Gunnar both loved having them here too.
It was also Grandparents week at Ashton's school last week so my Mom and step-dad came down on Tuesday to spend the day with him at school.

They were only going to stay for about an hour, but Ashton didn't want them to leave so they stayed the whole time. Sounds like they had a lot of fun and of course Ashton loved having them there! A lot of times Grandpa Harry has to work on weekends when we plan things so it was nice that this was something that was during the week that he had a day off for and could come to.

Walking for real now...

After Gunnar took those first steps about a month ago, he still didn't really care about walking too much. He would take a few steps here and there, but would mostly rather crawl still. I think since he was sick for a couple weeks he just kind of forgot about it. But then while we were in Price he stood up by himself (without holding onto anything) for the first time and after he figured that out and practiced it a bunch he really started walking a lot last week and now he's getting pretty fast and it is so stinkin' cute! I love it! I love how proud of himself he is and I just love how he looks so small and wobbly still. Another stage that goes way too fast. I love these pictures from a few days ago.
He just looked so cute that day and was having so much fun practicing his new skill!

Another fun scrapbook weekend...

My longtime friend Mandy (we go back to 1st grade!) lives in Idaho Falls and had an all day scrapbook day there on Saturday. So I went and stayed with her Friday night then stayed again Saturday night after scrapbooking all day that day. I got 18 more pages done! I had gotten all organized a couple nights last week, so I had my pages all ready to go and it was fun to use Mandy's stuff.

I always love the drive to Idaho Falls...it's so pretty and such a peaceful drive by myself. It flies by every time. I hadn't seen Mandy's little boy Dylan in almost 2 years, so it was fun to play with him and see how much he's changed since then. What a little cutie...such a mischievious look in his eyes all the time!
Too bad I forgot to even take 1 picture while I was there!
(so unlike me I know)
I did take pictures of all of my pages when I got home though.
Here are some of them...

Lars had fun with the boys again going to the fun park and the park at the school. It was such a beautiful weekend, I think they were outside for most of it. Oh and don't worry he'll get his guys weekend starting on Thursday. He and some of his long time friends are going on their annual fishing trip this weekend and he also got out Sunday when I got home to fish up Logan Canyon. It was a way fun weekend for me...I'm glad we can both get out once in awhile to spend some time doing our hobbies! Oh and this time when I got home Ashton ran to me and jumped into my arms saying I missed you Mommy! I love you! And Gunnar hugged me off and on for about the first hour. Fun to be away, but I sure love to come home to my boys! I missed them too.
