The weekend before last, on August 2nd, Lars and I went on our 2nd annual South Fork float trip with Nate and Brianne. We didn't get out of town till about 6:00 on Thursday night, so we didn't get up to Swan Valley till almost 9:30. We stayed at the same place we stayed last year and ended up in the same room again as well...the Cottonwood at the Hansen Guest Ranch.
We had a really fun trip again! We got to float the river and fish all day Friday and Saturday...unfortunately the fishing wasn't the best, but it was still fun to get out and it is so pretty there.
Pics from the trip :
Getting ready to head out...
Always hard to say goodbye to these guys :(...
They were so excited to stay with Aunt Kelli though...we let them go pick out these webkinz with her before we left :)
Stopping to pick up Nate and Brianne...
Getting ready to go to breakfast on Friday...I'd love to have this hammock in our back yard :)
Breakfast is so good!
Dressed and ready to go on day 1...
We spotted 3 eagles up in this tree..
Just sitting in the boat enjoying the view...
One of very few fish I caught the whole trip...
Heading out on day 2...
I love my new waders!
(my birthday present this year :)
I fished in this next spot for well over an hour and hooked 14...yes 14 fish, but couldn't land a single one of them!! It was so frustrating! I would hook them then they would take off in the deep water and get into the really swift current, and eventually break off!
Lars took the rod and followed this one down as far as he could before the rocks dropped off into really deep water...it ran his line clear out into the backing before it broke off.
This was just one of 3 mama moose we saw with their babies...
We're trying to decide if we want to go back there or try somewhere else next year...good times!
We are so grateful we're able to go and have fun knowing the boys are in great hands and having a blast with Aunt Kelli :)
