I can't believe my blog is almost caught up!
This past Sunday after church (after having stayed home all day Saturday getting stuff done...mostly organizing & de~cluttering the boys rooms and getting all of their school clothes organized etc...whew, so happy to check that off my list!)...we decided to drive up to Tony Grove for the afternoon to have a picnic and fish, and Lars wanted to make the boys some homemade slingshots.
We hadn't been up there for over two years...it is so pretty!
We had been there for about 5 mintues, just sat down at the picnic table to eat when Lars walked down a little trail to look at the lake, when he yelled back up to us that there was a big bull moose at the other side. So we ran down the trail to see and got to watch it walk along for awhile, then take a swim.

Then we went back up and finished our lunch, then grabbed our fishing stuff and walked around to the other side and fished unsuccessfully for a little while. At least Ashton got some practice casting his line out :)
In the meantime, Lars cut some branches for their slingshots, and we walked back to the truck, so he could get started making them.

They turned out pretty cool and they had lots of fun practicing shooting rocks out of them for a little while before we headed home.
I always feel like we are so lucky to have all of these beautiful places to go explore so close to where we live!
Oh and that Lars is such a great Dad to Ashton and Gunnar, and that we have opportunities to go do stuff like this as a family all the time. Counting my blessings!
