To continue from my last post...
I wanted to do something else special for Lars' big 40th birthday, but had a hard time thinking of what to do! Winter is hard, and also hard to figure out what to do with the boys if we want to go stay somewhere. Anyway it worked out really well actually when I finally decided on my plan. After talking to Nana and Papa and figuring out that they were planning to stay till Monday morning because Papa had a dr's appointment at 11:00 in Provo (2 hours from here) I knew it would work perfectly to have them just watch the boys Sunday afternoon and night, then if they dropped the boys off at school by 9:00 on Monday morning, that would put them in Provo just in time for the appointment!
So I had this gift certificate sitting around for probably 2 years...
A good friend passed it on to me because she and her husband would never use it as they live right around the corner from the Anniversary Inn.
Anyway I gladly accepted it, but we had never found a good time to go either because it had to be used Sunday-Thursday.
Well that weekend it finally worked out perfectly.
I went about a week and a half before and toured all of the rooms. That was really fun :) I had no idea they had 33 rooms!! Lots of really fun ones and it was so hard to choose which one to stay in since all but a couple of them were available for that night.
I finally decided on the Jesse James Hideout. It just seemed cozy and I loved the big log bed and the fact that it had a cute little pool table in it.
I was SO excited to surprise Lars with this.
We went to church that morning with Lars' parents, then the boys had their church class, so I came home while Lars took his parents to Sam's Club.
So I got the house cleaned up and wrote out a little card and put the gift certificate in it for him to find on the counter when they got home. I loved the look on his face when he read it and realized that we were packing a bag and heading out in about an hour. Even though we were only driving about 10 minutes away haha :)
He was totally surprised that I'd planned it all since he thought the party was the big surprise. Then he said he needed to get onto his computer and see what meetings he had for Monday morning, but little did he know that the meetings he had were dummy meetings I had a guy from his work set up, so he didn't have to be in to work till noon :)
He is so good at planning stuff for me, so I was really proud of myself for pulling this off for him!
And of course the boys were excited to stay home with Nana & Papa. We just left them instructions for the next morning.
So we checked in a little after 3:00 on Sunday afternoon and really just relaxed and watched movies and played pool all afternoon and night besides running out to eat dinner at Noodles & Co.
Breakfast was yummy!
Just nice to have the night together with no distractions and even better that it was all for free!
Especially since if we had had to pay for it, it would have been $340!!
Fun way to end the big birthday weekend :)
