Last day in Texas...time to head home.

I think we had to leave the house about 9:30 to get to the airport in Houston in time, so we got up about 7:00 to get ready and have breakfast.
The boys were wishing all week that we'd planned to stay longer and were mad at us for not!
They had so much fun, it was hard to say goodbye...
I forgot to mention how much they loved Paisley...
Oh and I forgot to mention that last morning when we were getting ready to go, Ashton went out one last time to try to catch his tail-less lizard and all of a sudden I heard him say I got him, then scream again when the lizard whipped it's head around and bit him causing Ashton to let him go! hahaha :)

Picture at the airport before security...
I didn't realize how sad they really were till we were sitting at our gate waiting to board the plane and I looked over at Ashton and he was crying :(
Then Gunnar started to. It was so sad!
They kept asking why we had to leave and when we'd get to go back.
We had an uneventful flight, then grabbed our luggage and headed out to the shuttle. We walked out of the airport into freezing wind!
I can't even remember what time we got home...anyway, such a fun spring break!

Texas Trip (Day 5)

Our last full day was supposed to be the least nice weather, so we planned to just hang out in the morning and then go to a movie in the afternoon. So I got up and ran again and it was still hard, but not quite as sunny and humid. Lars was still sore from our other run, so he stayed home.
I guess I forgot to mention that my knee is doing great as I gradually up my miles with running again. I started out really slow and have gradually built up to 4 and a half miles. It has been hard to start over and I had a really hard time getting motivated at first, but it's gradually getting easier now. And I'm so glad I am avoiding that knee pain!
Anyway we ended up going to see the
movie Home that day and it was really cute.

We got there about 45 minutes early for the one that wasn't in 3D, so the boys got to play some arcade games...
Then after the movie we went and got ice cream at Dairy Queen and headed back home. I think we had tacos again that night then packed up our stuff to head back the next day...

Texas Trip (Day 4)

The boys shared a room, and each morning woke up about 7:00 and got to play their kindles for about an hour while we slept in. They loved that :)
On Tuesday after we got up, we had breakfast and I think that was the day that Ashton finally got his hands on one of these green lizards!
Every morning they would come out and sit on the umbrella pole and Ashton would sneak out and try to grab one.
Well this day I heard him yell, I got him! Then a second later kind of scream when the lizard got away, but the tail stayed in his hand! haha...
Then later I got this picture of the tail-less lizard...
Anyway...after we got ready for the day, we drove back to Galveston to go to this Pleasure Pier place, but unfortunately realized when we got there that this time of year the rides and everything are only open on the weekends.
So we went to a little gift shop and the boys picked out these little sting rays that Grandpa and Grandma bought for them...
Then we decided to go to lunch at Raiforest Café...
It was really good and always brings back memories of when we went when Ashton was 2 and was terrified of the big gorillas. He just covered his eyes tight the whole time...haha :)
After lunch, we stopped off at this fresh fish market and got shrimp and fish to grill for dinner that night.
Watching the guys clean the fish...
Then daring each other to touch the live crabs...
Then we headed over to Kemah so the boys could ride some rides...

Gunnar, before and after riding the big roller coaster :)
Ashton our fearless child...loved this crazy ride that went upside down and rode it 3 or 4 times. Gag!
Poor Gunnar...the look on his face on this one when it came down, he was terrified!
It takes you really high, then just drops you. Needless to say he did not want to ride it again!
Funny boys...I told them to step behind these bars so I could take their picture, and these were the faces they made...
Another fun day at Kemah, and just a couple pictures from our last trip there. So hard to believe 5 years had passed since then.
After we got home that night, we grilled the shrimp and fish and it was so good!!
Then as promised, we made a fire and roasted marshmallows...
I don't think Gunnar ever roasts a marshmallow without charring it!
 Another fun day :)

Texas Trip (Day 3)

Maybe I can finally catch up on here...
After my last post, we all got a horrible stomach bug that started with me, then went to Gunnar, then to Ashton, then finally to Lars and lasted from
Thursday to Tuesday or Wednesday. Not fun!
Anyway back to our vacation before I forget everything.
On Monday Lars and I got up and went for a run, I was actually thinking
it might feel a little easier running there with the way lower elevation (almost sea level), but I was wrong! That humidity is a killer...Poor Lars. I don't know
if he will ever run with me again, haha.
We survived 3 miles while the boys hung out at the house, then we all had breakfast then got ready to go to the beach for the day.
We were slow moving so we didn't get to where we were going for lunch till after 1:30 or so. We stopped off to get the boys some boogie boards in the hopes that we would find some cheap ones that we could just leave at their house for next time we visit, rather than paying more to rent some for the day.
Anyway we did find these cute ones as well as new swim shirts for the boys...I hadn't found any for them yet for this year, so I was excited.
And they looked so cute!!
Anyway, before we went down to the beach we went and ate lunch at a yummy deli. Then finally made it to the beach around 2:30 or so.
It was such a fun, fun day. Ashton could honestly live at the beach, or IN the ocean! And he played in it almost the entire day on his boogie board.
Gunnar went out for awhile, but like usual when we go to any beach, he preferred to play in the sand.
They were both so happy just being there, and I was so happy watching them. I just kept thinking...these are the days, the best days.
 So much fun...best memories made!
With it being a Monday, we pretty much had the whole beach to ourselves and it was a beautiful day!
Lots of pictures from our day...
So glad Lars likes the water and goes out with them!

Oh my goodness, I just adore these two :)
So happy!
He wrote this...
(I love Texas)
We literally had to drag them away...
...after I took this picture :)
After we got them all sprayed off and changed into clothes, it was getting pretty late, so we stopped off at Sonic and got food to go. They thought that was the best since we never do that!
They got to eat in the car and we didn't get back to the house till about 9:00. Needless to say they slept great that night.
I also just have to say that they got along so well that day and really this whole trip. That is not always the case, so it just made it so enjoyable.
We passed time in the car playing the alphabet game and other guessing games, and it was just fun!
