Gunnar is 22 months old!

I haven't done one of these update posts in awhile and I've been meaning to, so I thought today would be a good day to finally do it. Lots of posts have been about Ashton lately, so here's one for Gunnar...
(another one that's more for me to look back on)
I can't believe in 2 short months Gunnar will be 2!!! It really just blows me away how fast these boys are growing up and everyone knows it makes me sad :(
But I absolutely love the age Gunnar is now. I think I smile and laugh all day at the cute stuff he does and says. Some of the things that I really want to remember that I've been meaning to write down in his journal, but haven't yet are...
He comes up to me off and on during the day and hugs me and kisses me and tells me "Wuv you Mommy".
He is still so cuddly and is such a mama's boy and I hope he stays that way for a long time.
He is the thank you boy! He still says thank you pretty much every time I or anyone else does anything for him. I love it!
He still loves his "nigh nighs" (blankies). The other night I was rocking him and he had about 3 of them in his arms and he says..."nigh nighs yummy."
He has just recently in the last month started to show interest in tv and up until about a week ago was OBSESSED with The Polar Express. Mostly just the part where they do the hot chocolate dance. He'd come up to me all day saying "hot chaw chock dance...now!" Then when I'd start that part, he and Ashton would do their own version of the dance (over and over and over again). Then after awhile he got to where he'd sit through the whole thing and really watch it. And now he'll watch any kid show that's on. So it was fun for awhile when I had something new to entertain him, but now we can only watch so much and that makes him mad!
He still copies everything Ashton does. Mostly it's so cute, till he gets mad at something and runs around saying "poopy head!" But even that is actually pretty funny out of his little mouth! Lars has to walk away so Ashton doesn't see him laughing at him.
He loves to be in Ashton's room getting into all his stuff!
He loves to play with playdough...ughhh!
He is right now in the process of getting 5 new teeth! I kept wondering for the last 3 or 4 months when he'd ever get more and now they're all coming at the same time. At least they don't ever seem to bother him.
He loves being outside and like I mentioned before loves airplanes and helicopters. Tonight out of the blue he comes up to me and says. "Like bling blanes." So I said..."you like airplanes?" and he said. "yeah, I do." with a cute little smile on his face. He says that a lot when we ask him something..."yeah, I do." He's saying so many new things every day.
Everything is "Mime!" and he can be such a little stinker sometimes!
Everyone comments on how cute his read hair is...I think 3 people stopped me in Macey's yesterday to say something about it.
These days are going by too fast and I never want to
forget all of the fun things that I love about my days being a Mom
to these 2 great little boys!
I love your adorable smile, your irresistable laugh and your sweet personality...
Love you Gunnar :)

Happy Birthday Lars! (yesterday)...

Lars turned 35 yesterday!! We had fun celebrating all weekend. If there is one thing I have learned about my husband it is that he is not good at sitting still...he always wants to have plans and wants to be busy doing something. Especially on the weekends. He works so hard during the week he never wants to spend his days off sitting around. I guess that's why they say opposites attract...one of the things I am very best at is laying around!
Anyway with that in mind...here is how our weekend went:
Friday-I set up a babysitter to come at 5:00 and we went out to dinner (at Happy Sushi...Lars' choice), then to a movie...Extraordinary Measures (which was pretty good!).
Saturday-Lars got up early and went to an ice-fishing tournament all day, then came home and had dinner with us then I had a bunch of his friends come over for a surprise poker party. I really wanted to hold off and not say anything to him till they all started arriving, but he was walking around in an undershirt and pajama bottoms (and I needed to get all of the treats and drinks set out), so finally about half an hour before they came I told him he better go get dressed. Of course he wanted to know why, so I told him that I was having a poker night for him. He was totally surprised and excited...even though he'd been up since about 4 am!
Sunday-we made breakfast in bed for him, then gave him his present from the boys... Then had a lazy morning, got Subway sandwiches for lunch, let Gunnar have a nap, then we all went sledding for a couple hours. It was so FUN! Ashton always loves it...... but Gunnar (after going down one time with me) didn't want much to do with it... He wanted to play on the park equipment instead for awhile.
Then before we were getting ready to leave Lars put him on the sled on his belly and tucked his hands in and pushed him down a small hill.
He LOVED it! Wait that was Lars...Here's Gunnar loving it!He could not stop smiling... ...and we ended up staying another hour and had to drag him away. In the meantime, I had some fun going down too...
(when I wasn't busy taking pictures...this one was for Ashton, I knew he'd think it was funny!)It was so nice to see some sunshine in Cache Valley!!!Anyway I think he had a fun activity filled weekend.
Happy #35 hun!

Stuff we don't see everyday...

I just have to post these couple of pictures...
First of all Ashton NEVER falls asleep anywhere but his own bed so I was shocked to look over and see this... ...at an Aggie game we went to last weekend.
I guess he was exhausted from going to bed late the night before!

Then this one is so funny to me because really if you look at Lars (who is 6 ft. 5 inches tall) would you really think he could do this...On ice-skates??

He said he pulled a muscle, so he had to stretch it out. So funny...
I attempted to do the same thing and this is as far as I got and I hurt my leg in the process!

Ashton's 5 year photo shoot...

I've been wanting to take Ashton out and try to get some cute pictures of him as a now 5 year old, so this afternoon we went and here's what we got...
This turned into a perfect place to take them...it's out by the airport and about every minute there was a helicopter or airplane flying directly over us!
Gunnar was in HEAVEN...He gets so so excited everytime he sees one. In fact the day before yesterday he and I spent about an hour out in front of our house (while Ashton was playing with a friend) just waiting for and watching helicopters and airplanes fly over. It was so fun to watch his reactions. Since then he stands by the door basically begging me to take him out to look for airplanes
(or "bling blanes".)Anyway I had intentions of going a couple other places too, but they were just having way too much fun here. Maybe another day...

Ashton's Party...

Happy B-BAY Aggie!!!
That's what Gunnar ran around saying all day. It was so cute~!
Ashton's birthday fell on a Wednesday and I thought he would be back in school by then (the 6th!), but his crazy school for some reason didn't start back till Friday the 9th. Anyway I was thinking it would be nice if he had to go to school to pass some time before his party that we'd decided to do that night at 6:30. No such luck...but we had a fun day anyway. I wanted to make breakfast in bed for him, but he got up too early. So he helped me make waffles. Then we hung out around the house and got ready for the day. Then per his request we went to "Playland McDonald's" for lunch. I had tried to talk him into going to Chili's...I even told him we could get the molten chocolate cake. Nope...he had his heart set on McDonald's. So we went and picked up Lars at work and drove out to the one in Hyrum. (I refuse to go to the disgusting one on this end of Logan.) Anyway the boys had lots of fun playing there for about half an hour...then we dropped Lars off and headed home. Gunnar went down for his nap and Ashton and I made his Birthday cupcakes. He actually requested cupcakes this year and I gladly said yes :) So we decided to arrange them in the shape of a 5 and he wanted the frosting to be blue and green.
After we got that done, Gunnar woke up from his nap and we still had a couple hours to kill before the party, so we decided to head to Macey's and get balloons. Or "blooneys" as Gunnar calls them :)
Then not long after we got back Lars got home and it was almost (finally!) party time. We ate a quick dinner and then waited for our guests to arrive. We had a houseful when everyone showed up. Ashton's neighborhood friends Tyler, Jace, & Reagan came as well as his friends from church Dante and Julius and Brayden from school, and Nate and Brianne's boys Dax and Luke. Nate stayed to help out and Brayden's mom, (my friend) Brittany stuck around too and was nice enough to take over taking pictures. Thank YOU! It could have gotten a little crazy with all of those kids, but it was fun. I had put on the invitations... ...that we may be playing a couple games, so I had to come up with something. So we blew up a bunch of balloons and all the kids had to rub them on their heads till they stuck and whoever could walk around with it on their head the longest won. Hey come on...they're 5 year olds! And they actually thought it was pretty fun.
Then when it came time to open presents we did "musical presents". All the kids sat in a circle holding the gift that they brought. We turned the music on and they were supposed to pass them around the circle till the music stopped. Then whichever gift Ashton was holding, he would open. Fun idea right?? Well even though most of them are 5 or over it didn't work quite as well as planned...but eventually all the presents got opened and Ashton got a lot of fun stuff!

This was the final present from Lars and me...I loved the look on his face when he opened it. He was SO excited!
Then it was time to sing to our Birthday boy.

I think that was Gunnar's favorite part...
Oh wait except for this... Now that is how to enjoy a cupcake!

Ashton loved them too...
After everyone ate cupcakes and ice-cream and they stayed to play a little longer, then it was time to go. The whole night went more smoothly than I thought it might.
It was a fun party!

Looking back...

(This is one of those posts that is more for me to look back at when I print my blog, but read on anyway if you want :)

I really just can't believe that Ashton is 5. I used to think about his 5th birthday as being so far away. Now in 9 short months he will be off to kindergarten :(. It has been really getting to me. That with the combination of losing lovey have just really made me emotional I guess. I've been looking back through the scrapbook of his first year and through lots of pictures of him of the past 5 years on the computer...he has brought so much fun, life and laughter to our house and family. Here are some of the main things I will always remember when I think back to Ashton's first 5 years...
How much I loved letting him sleep on my chest when he was tiny. I never wanted to put him down...

How from about 6 weeks old he was an awesome sleeper and to this day I think he could sleep through a war! The day he was baptized as a Catholic....(I can't find a picture anywhere!)

How much I love his beautiful blue eyes... ...and cute, cute smile!Oh and this funny face he made all the time...he would scrunch up his nose and breathe in and out really fast...How very blonde he was for a long time...Our almost daily walks... ...this is one of the things I will miss the most when he soon won't fit anymore :( How from really young he talked SO well. He has always had an amazing vocabulary and spoke really clearly. He always seemed so much older than he was. Some of the stuff he said when he was so tiny blew me away. When he was Gunnar's age (21 months)...he said to me in these exact words "I'll be back in a minute, I'm going to college." While wearing my pink slippers (no pants) and carrying his lunchbox.

His absolute OBSESSION with mowing and trimming the lawn. Every waking moment for the longest time all he wanted to do was mow the lawn or watch all of our neighbors mow. Every day he would ask me "Do we need to mow the lawn today?" And if I said no..."Do you think we should water the lawn, so it will grow, so we can mow?" Funny kid! Oh his love of the Backyardigans! From about 14 months old he watched them every day and loved them! So for his 2nd birthday we of course had a Backyardigans party and he dressed up as Tyrone for Halloween that year...His naughty stage from about 2 1/2 to 3 1/2...wow did he give us a run for our money (and still does some days)!

How sweet he was with Gunnar from the time we brought him home and he still is. Even though they fight like any other brothers...he goes up to him off and on all day and hugs him and tells him he loves him.

How much he has always loved books and being read to...

His LOVE for Halloween and anything scary!

The first time he rode his bike without training wheels and how very excited he was!

His stitches on the day he graduated from his first year of preschool. :(

How he is such a Daddy's boy...but makes sure to tell me that he still loves me the same.

His love of pajamas...I think he'd still wear them everyday, all day, everywhere we went if we'd let him.

Of course his love for his Lovey...

And really just his love for life!

He is such a fun happy kid!
