Girls Ski Day!

I have to say I don't know why this is the first time I've done this...my friend Dominee and I had SO much fun skiing last Wednesday. We got our boys off to school, then met back at my house at 9:00 and headed up to Beaver Mtn. for the day. It was another beautiful sunny day and we had a great time! Our friendship goes way back to when we both worked at the Shear Shack doing hair. So we had lots to laugh about and we just have fun together!
So glad we planned that day and I can't wait to do it again. There are lots of times when I really miss when Ashton & Gunnar were little and were home with me all day, but I do have to say that there are advantages to having them in school all day too :)

Jump Rope Expedition...

Every once in awhile being PTA president has it's perks...a couple weekends ago I received a free family pass to go to this fun Jump Rope Expedition in Logan at the rec center, so we first went out to dinner at Olive Garden (with a gift certificate some friends had given Lars for his birthday), then the boys got a donut from the new Dunkin' Donuts in town, then we went to this show. It was really fun and entertaining! Amazing talent in these kids! In fact a couple of the performers had been in a group that was on that America's Got Talent show.
Crazy some of the stunts they could do with a jump rope, and lots of fun music to go along with it. I just love to get out and do different things and when they are free it is even better :)
Gunnar was sitting with his buddy Colby.
Oh and there was a raffle at the end (we'd put in $10 worth of tickets) and Gunnar's name got drawn out for this!
He was so excited...kind of a fun prize!

Crazy, Beautiful February Weather!

This has been the warmest, nicest February I can ever remember! It is actually really weird, but I'm not complaining. It's been fun because the boys have been able to play outside like it is spring, but we have also been able to go up skiing and there has still been decent snow. Kind of a perfect situation.
Lars even set the tramp back up for them a couple weekends ago.
Anyway Gunnar had a couple of extra days of school off for Parent Teacher Conferences, so he and I had a lot of fun one day just playing outside. We threw his football around forever, then went for a bike ride and just enjoyed the beautiful warm weather. I think it was 65 degrees that day!
 Don't smile!

Anniversary Inn...

To continue from my last post...
I wanted to do something else special for Lars' big 40th birthday, but had a hard time thinking of what to do! Winter is hard, and also hard to figure out what to do with the boys if we want to go stay somewhere. Anyway it worked out really well actually when I finally decided on my plan. After talking to Nana and Papa and figuring out that they were planning to stay till Monday morning because Papa had a dr's appointment at 11:00 in Provo (2 hours from here) I knew it would work perfectly to have them just watch the boys Sunday afternoon and night, then if they dropped the boys off at school by 9:00 on Monday morning, that would put them in Provo just in time for the appointment!
So I had this gift certificate sitting around for probably 2 years...
A good friend passed it on to me because she and her husband would never use it as they live right around the corner from the Anniversary Inn.
Anyway I gladly accepted it, but we had never found a good time to go either because it had to be used Sunday-Thursday.
Well that weekend it finally worked out perfectly.
I went about a week and a half before and toured all of the rooms. That was really fun :) I had no idea they had 33 rooms!! Lots of really fun ones and it was so hard to choose which one to stay in since all but a couple of them were available for that night.
I finally decided on the Jesse James Hideout. It just seemed cozy and I loved the big log bed and the fact that it had a cute little pool table in it.
I was SO excited to surprise Lars with this.
We went to church that morning with Lars' parents, then the boys had their church class, so I came home while Lars took his parents to Sam's Club.
So I got the house cleaned up and wrote out a little card and put the gift certificate in it for him to find on the counter when they got home. I loved the look on his face when he read it and realized that we were packing a bag and heading out in about an hour. Even though we were only driving about 10 minutes away haha :)
He was totally surprised that I'd planned it all since he thought the party was the big surprise. Then he said he needed to get onto his computer and see what meetings he had for Monday morning, but little did he know that the meetings he had were dummy meetings I had a guy from his work set up, so he didn't have to be in to work till noon :)
He is so good at planning stuff for me, so I was really proud of myself for pulling this off for him!
And of course the boys were excited to stay home with Nana & Papa. We just left them instructions for the next morning.
So we checked in a little after 3:00 on Sunday afternoon and really just relaxed and watched movies and played pool all afternoon and night besides running out to eat dinner at Noodles & Co.
 Breakfast was yummy!
Just nice to have the night together with no distractions and even better that it was all for free!
Especially since if we had had to pay for it, it would have been $340!!
Fun way to end the big birthday weekend :)

Lars' 40th Birthday!!

One of us was really excited for this day! Well really the whole weekend :)
And it was not Lars! He was not looking forward to turning 40. Maybe I will feel the same way in a year and a half?
Anyway I was excited though because I had lots of plans in the works and couldn't wait for them to unfold.
I invited his parents to come up for the weekend, so they arrived on Friday afternoon. That was actually supposed to be a surprise, but I ended up telling him because he was about to call and ask them to come.
We just hung out that night, Gunnar had a birthday party to go to and Ashton played with friends while I baked cakes and Lars watched tv with his parents.
Then Saturday we decided to go skiing, just him and me while Nana and Papa watched the boys...they took them to the fun park and lunch.
We had lots of fun skiing alone that day!
Then we came home and got showered, I told him we had dinner reservations at Elements at 5:30. Grandma and Grandpa Harry showed up while I was getting ready and surprised him. Then Uncle Jordan actually showed up late to dinner and Lars was really surprised by that too. There was an extra seat at our table and he could not figure out who it was for!
Then of course our dinner took FOREVER! I had planned a big surprise party for him at our house after dinner, so I had my neighbor Dana go decorate and let people in and I kept having to text her under the table telling her that we would be later than I thought. I really didn't know if I could pull off this surprise, but when we walked into the dark house and everyone jumped up and yelled surprise and I saw the look on his face, I knew I'd gotten him!
It was so fun!
And funny because all day up skiing he went on and on about how he was glad I hadn't planned some big thing for him etc...etc...!
Party pictures...
What a fun night and when all was said and done, I know Lars was glad I did this! :)
One more surprise up next...
