A couple weeks ago I finally got around to moving Gunnar's bed away from the wall and taking off the little railing we'd been using ever since he started sleeping in his big boy bed. I wanted him to be able to start making his own  bed and thought it was probably time to learn how to sleep in his bed without anything preventing him from falling out.
When he came upstairs and saw it, he was so excited!  I love how moving his bed a foot in one direction made him so happy...little things :)
Anyway I was actually really surprised for these past 2 weeks or so, he never fell out!
Until last night :(
It was only about 11:00, so Lars was still awake but I was asleep and it made me jump out of bed and run into his room when I heard him scream. We didn't turn his light on right away, so I just picked him up and put him back in bed and tried to tuck him back in, but he wouldn't stop crying and when my eyes eventually started working I saw that his face was covered in blood!
So we flipped the light on to see where it was coming from, and saw a little gash on the corner of his eyelid next to his eye. I could tell it was really painful and it took him a long time to calm down. It was so sad :(
I ended up holding him and laying with him for a couple hours before I went back to bed. Luckily this morning it looked a lot better and we were glad that we hadn't decided to take him in and see if it needed stitches. Hopefully it will heal up fine. Poor guy :(
I love his eyelashes, eybrows and cute freckles :)
I started thinking this afternoon, that had this happened last year at this time (6 days before Halloween)...it would have been perfect for his costume! haha :)

Our first snow!

I think we were all surprised yesterday when we looked outside to see 3 or 4 inches of fresh snow! Ashton and Gunnar were so excited.
Lars not so much since he had to go sweep it all off of the tramp as well as try to get it out of our poor trees before it broke branches off...and he pretty much got covered.
Poor Ashton had come home on Monday saying he'd had a bad headache all day, then when he got up yesterday he said it still hurt bad and that he wasn't feeling well. So I gave him some ibuprofen and decided to keep him home. He laid around for a couple hours, then I could tell when his medicine kicked in and he started feeling much better. Gunnar had already been out playing in the snow for awhile and I really didn't plan on letting Ashton go out with him since he had stayed home sick from school, but....
Well I couldn't resist!
All that fun, fresh snow...what's a Mom to do? So he found all of his snow clothes and got them on and they had fun playing out in it for an hour and a half or so. It was the best day yesterday. I just kept looking at them out the window and had such a happy, grateful feeling. Just to have them both safe at home with me having so much fun playing in the new snow. What's one missed day of 2nd grade compared to this?
I love that Gunnar can't even hardly see out from under his hat :) Cutie...
It was a heavy wet snow, so after awhile they decided they were done and wanted to come in and warm up. So that means hot chocolate of course :)
We all spent the whole day in our pajamas. There are so few days like this anymore with busy schedules, so we just enjoyed it.
Back to school for Ashton (and Gunnar) today and back to reality for me!

Pumpkin Walk...2012

So glad we went to the Pumpkin Walk yesterday with Gunnar's class, before it snowed today!
This is one of my favorite Halloween traditions, there were lots of cute scenes and Gunnar and I had lots of fun...
 Madagascar 3 :)

Gunnar's school's theme this year..."Ants in the pants"
The cute little ant he made :)
Fun to see a couple Harry Potter scenes since that is all I hear about at home these days :)...
Ron Weasley...
I love to look in my rearview mirror :)

Weekend at Grandma & Grandpa Harry's...

I decided kind of last minute to take the boys up to stay in Wyoming for part of our fall break. I picked them up from school last Wednesday with the car all packed up and ready to go and we headed out. We hadn't been since Memorial weekend!
We used to go a lot more often when the boys were little and we didn't have to worry about school and church classes etc...It's a lot harder now to find a good time to head up for a few days and I knew we wouldn't get another chance for awhile.
Anyway it was a fun weekend. The boys were entertained the whole time and played so good together.
Gunnar had lots of fun helping Grandma feed the horses on Thursday morning.
He was a little intimidated at first and wanted me right next to him, but then he got used to being surrounded by them...
Ashton came out after awhile, but was more interested in playing on the swingset. He and Gunnar loved this swing and were pretending it was the Harry Potter train of course.
They always have lots of fun playing with all of the old toys my Mom kept around from when I was little.
Especially the legos this time...
This time with the help of Grandma, Ashton even taught himself how to play the Star Wars theme song on the piano! Now he wants to take lessons.
Thursday afternoon we all went to town and let the boys play at the park for an hour or so...
...then went to our favorite mexican restaurant for dinner.
Friday morning I was able to meet up with my friend and old beauty school roommate Jody for a late breakfast. We ended up chatting for 2 hours catching up at this new place in town called Jody's...haha :)
Anyway, I was so glad we went and had a nice visit. Thanks Grandma and Aunt Kelli for helping out with the boys!
We got home about 6:00 Friday night and spent the rest of the weekend just hanging out at home mostly.

One last boat trip...

After our first 2 fun weekends of taking the boat out, Lars asked Kelli if she would come down that next weekend and watch the boys so that he and I could take it out again. After Ashton's last soccer game that morning, we packed a lunch and headed up to Treasureton. It was FREEZING! And rained lightly most of the time we were there. Luckily after beind out there for awhile we finally started catching some fish...well I should say that I did. I offered to row, but Lars didn't want me to. Anyway besides freezing, it was fun to catch some bigger fish. Now I'm fished out!
First bass I ever remember catching...creeped me out to hold it this way!
I was nice and let him hold one that I caught :)
