Journaling...

Now that I've gotten all of my picture posts caught up, it's time for another journaling post...
I think of things every day that I want to write down before I forget them. Lots of things the boys say...one Ashton just said a few minutes ago. In a conversation with Gunnar I hear him say "I wish you were a robot so I could turn you off." Little stinker.
I'm glad most of the time lately instead of fighting, it's moments like this...
(of course matching jammies)
Ashton loves to play his DS and Gunnar is happy to sit beside him and watch.
These days Ashton wakes up at about 7:30 each morning and quietly goes out into the living room and enjoys his alone time with his DS. I never thought I'd see the day that Gunnar slept in later than him, but he's back to sleeping in till 8:00 or 8:30.
I finally make myself get up at 8:00 and get the boys breakfast and get Ashton ready and off to school. He is doing great in school...hard to believe he'll be done with first grade in a month! Or that Gunnar will be done with his first year of preschool in less than a month...
We leave for Disneyland in 11 days! We are all excited for a fun vacation.
Back to funny stuff they've been saying...
The other day I was talking to them about how it makes God happy when we're nice to eachother and Gunnar said "And Santa too hu?" haha :)
Oh and I love how Gunnar says Worchestershire...It's "Worsheshershosher" love it!
One day I see Ashton and Gunnar running home from a neighbor kid's house into the backyard, then a few minutes later a few of the neighbor kids knock on my door and tell me that Ashton told them to shut up. So I asked them why and they started saying something about Gunnar trying to say something and then Ashton telling them to shut up. So I went out and asked Ashton what was going on and he said that they were making fun of how Gunnar talks, so he told them to shut up and he and Gunnar ran home...:) Not that I was happy he told them to shut up, but it did make me smile that he put a stop to it and stuck up for his brother! Love moments like that :)
The other day I was driving around with Gunnar running errands and he's in the back chatting away as usual and he says "I wonder what I'll look like when I'm a teenager?" It made me laugh, then it made me sad...I'm not ready to think about those days yet! I love spending my days with him...he is so fun to be with. (squished in my cart grocery shopping :)
The last time I was cleaning out Ashton's room...(which has to be done about once every couple of months because he is such a collector!) I looked at all of the little things that are important to him, funny little prizes he gets from school, and just all sorts of other little things that he piles up everywhere. I tried to look at his things like he does and remember that he 7 and for whatever funny reason, he treasures all of this "junk". (If you look at the picture at the top of this post...hanging on his bed next to his rosary is a necklace that he made out of an Angry Birds tag that came on some pajama pants! haha :)
So I didn't get rid of anything that wasn't really garbage. Sitting there going through his stuff made me feel close to him while he was off at school all day. I love you so much Ashton...you are such a great kid. My favorite part of the day with you is when we lay in bed at night and I tickle you and you laugh so hard you have tears in your eyes. You love to be tickled. And you always make sure we say our prayers. Never forget how much I love you and always know how blessed I feel to be your Mom.
You too Gunnar :)
I guess that's about it for now...feels good to be caught up!

Blueberry Muffins...

Just a cute picture of Gunnar waiting for the muffins to be done...
They are one of his and Ashton's favorite breakfast treats that we make once in awhile :)

Spring Soccer so far...

I can't believe that this is Ashton's 5th season of soccer!! His team named themselves the Sharks this year.
He's doing pretty well so far...he is still not all that aggressive, but he gets out there and tries hard and gets in some good kicks to help out his team. We are so proud of you Ashton, and it's always fun to go watch you play!
(especially this year when so far we haven't even had to sit in the rain or snow!)
  Rest time :)
 Good kick!
Gunnar spent one whole game laying on this blanket doing his new preschool workbook :)
It's been nice that almost all of our games have been at Providence Elementary, so they've ridden their bikes a couple times..
Not sure what this was about...haha!
Gunnar gets lots of practice in during the games too..
I don't know how long he will continue to want to play, but I hope he sticks with it!

Gunnar's cute preschool pictures...

Once again I forgot about school pictures like I did with Ashton's last year...oops!
Gunnar had gone to school in an old t-shirt and crazy hair, so I was glad that they did their pictures with the cap and gown and I think his turned out so cute :)
 Good job Gunnar!

Our first garden...

We finally got our first garden all ready to go and planted some peas! Ashton has wanted to do one for the past couple years, and we never got around to it until now. We got this garden box at Sams Club and Lars filled it with soil and a couple weekends ago we planted our peas. We need to decide what else we're going to plant and do it now that I think it's done freezing.
Gunnar goes out and checks to see if they've grown everyday. It will be so fun for them to see them really grow and get to eat stuff out of our own garden and maybe next year we'll do another box and plant even more stuff.

boys & burps...

These two were in the bath one night laughing so hard, so I went in to find them taking turns burping in eachothers ears...haha!
oh boys...
I know someday they will look back and laugh...
I'm always so glad they have eachother.

Spring pool day!

Last Sunday after church Lars went fishing, so the boys wanted to get the pool out and fill it up...it was a beautiful day and they had so much fun playing in it and on the swingset and in the sandbox ALL DAY!
I love this picture of Gunnar...I had seen a huge bumblebee and said "Oh my gosh Gunnar look at that big fat bumblebee!" And he said "Did it look like this?" And made this face...haha!
We had Dante, Julius and Amalia over for about 3 hours and they all played so good together the whole time.
(snacking on frozen grapes :)
Gets us looking forward to summer!
That night I had movie night with the boys...we watched Bedtime Stories, one of our favorites that we hadn't watched in awhile.
(lovely blurry picture...)
So fun to just snuggle on the floor with them and laugh. I love you boys so much. What a perfect Sunday :)

Baby Chickies...

Last week at Gunnar's preschool they had eggs in an incubator and one day when he went in, all 11 of them had hatched!
I went in early to pick him up that day and got a couple cute pictures of him with them...
They were cute!
And he sure loves his little school and has even come out of his shell a little bit :)

Easter Weekend...

I'm getting behind again and sitting here trying to remember what we did over Easter weekend...
Oh yeah, well Friday was when we did the surprise proposal, then Saturday we got up got the boys ready to go over to the little neighborhood egg hunt...
This was the first time in a few years that we had been to it actually, so it was fun for them...
Then we came home and colored our eggs...always fun :)
Sunday we woke up to eggs all over the house and baskets full of fun stuff...
The boys hunted down all the eggs...
...then we got ready for church and went. When we got home we took our traditional Easter pictures on the front steps...
Wow these boys are so handsome and getting so tall! I loved Ashton's smile in these pictures...my little model :)
Then it was such a beautiful day we just hung out at home all day and they played outside a lot. Even set up the sprinkler for awhile.
Funny...Easter egg hunt in the snow one day, running through sprinklers the next !
I love Easter and why we really celebrate it and getting to teach our boys about it and see them start to understand a little more each year:)

Swingin' like a big boy!

It is a big day in a little boy's life when he learns how to pump on a swing all by himself!
Gunnar was so excited when he got the hang of it a couple weeks ago...then for awhile that was all he wanted to do.
So cute :)
I remember the same excitement in Ashton when he learned and when that was all he wanted to do. I sure love all these experiences as a Mom seeing such joy in these little boys...
These are precious days for sure :)

Goblin Valley...

After going to Salt Lake on Saturday, we headed down to Price to spend a few days of the boys' spring break. They love going there and playing with their cousin Hunter. I asked Ashton at one point what was his favorite thing we did over the break...Going to Planet Play? Or playing with Hunter at Nana & Papa's? With no hesitation he said Playing with Hunter!
And that's what he and Gunnar did for most of the first days we were there. Play, play, play!
On Monday, Lars and I went fishing for a few hours...yes it was cold! But it was fun...we don't get out by ourselves very often anymore and when we first met and first were married we used to go fishing all the time together. We caught a few fish...Lars caught a big brown that I need to get the picture of and put on here.
Then on Tuesday we decided to drive over to Goblin Valley...let's be honest I don't know exactly where it's at, just that it took an hour and a half to get there from Price and is somewhere near Green River, Utah. I had no idea it was so close and we'd never made the trip before. It is beautiful there and was heaven for the boys! They thought it was the greatest place ever...being able to run around and climb on all of the crazy rock formations. So fun!
Here are some of my favorites and what they looked like to me...
An Angry Bird!
A baby with it's hands reaching up...
Weird little faces...
Lars...
A frog face...
Mario Mushrooms...
Depending on how you look at it, either a duck...or Jaba the Hut from Star Wars...
It really is an amazing place and as we hiked around we wondered what it was like for the very first people who discovered it...can you imagine what they thought?
It was a beautiful 60 degree day...it felt good after lots of cold windy days, and I don't think it would be fun to go with it much hotter, I can't imagine camping there in the summer with no shade!
After we hiked all around the "goblins", we drove over to the camp spots and found a picnic table for lunch, then we went and hiked the Little Wild Horse Canyon. It was really neat too with all of the skinny "slots" to walk through...
God sure made us a beautiful world to live in didn't He?
That hike was a little long for some of us...(Papa & Gunnar :)...
But it was a really fun way to spend our last day there. We headed home on Wednesday and Lars went back to work for one day  (Thursday), then had Good Friday off. I love that his company gives him that day off since they aren't based in Utah!
Oh in the midst of all of this I was in pain trying to pass a kidney stone...they are not a fun thing to have! I finally passed it on Saturday morning...Halleluiah! Amazing how such a tiny little thing can cause so much pain.
I don't think I'd had one since I was pregnant with Ashton.
Next up...Easter :)
