Happy Birthday to ME! (and my brother Jordan :)

It's my 33rd Birthday today and I think I'm reaching the point finally where it just feels like "another day". We're not doing too much since we just got back from our vacation and since I got to go to the concert over the weekend, but that's okay.
I think maybe Ashton and I will go make cupcakes or something...
It's also my cute little brother Jordan's 29th birthday today.
Happy Birthday Jordan!
I hope you're doing something fun today!

Josh Turner Concert!

Last night my Mom and I went to see Josh Turner in Evanston... We've had it planned for a couple months for my Mom's 60th Birthday. It was a great concert and lots of fun! Two other bands opened up for him...the first one was called Trailer Choir (I hadn't heard of them), but they were actually pretty good and really funny...one of their lead singers was a big 300+ lb. guy dancing all around! And I guess they have the #37 song on CMT's Top 20 countdown right now. After they played, Little Big Town came out. They were really good too...
(just a little loud for my Mom and others around us who were plugging their ears!)
But of course Josh Turner was the best...
What a cutie and such an awesome voice!
We sat up in the stands for most of it......but I ran down to the front and took a few pictures and videos during part of it. What a wild crowd...as I'm standing there taking a video a huge fight broke out right in front of me and a couple cops came in and dragged some guys off! (nothing like a concert at the Uinta County Fair!)
And so much for the few videos I took. I tried to watch them when we got home and remembered the camera I was using doesn't have sound! Grrr....

Anyway it was a fun night and I even got to sleep in this morning till almost 10:00 am!
Oh and in case you don't know who Josh Turner is or what he sings...turn on my playlist to hear a couple of his songs.

Also stay tuned for posts about our California trip.
This post was way shorter and easier to do...that's why it came first.
Thanks Hunnie for watching the boys and letting me have my night out with my Mom to celebrate her Birthday.
(I think Lars will be glad to get back to work tomorrow after a week off with us...)

First trip to the swimming pool this year...

Last week we went to the pool one afternoon with my friends Angie and Aurora and their kids. It was a fun outing for the day. The older boys (all able to reach the bottom of the smaller pool this year!) had fun just playing around together while us Moms sat on the edge with the younger ones while they splashed and played in the shallow water.
Aurora and I can never get over how cute Gunnar and Amalia look together... They are so similar in their actions and size and with their fair skin and red hair they look like they could almost be little twins!
They looked so cute sitting by eachother and kicking their legs splashing in the pool.
I couldn't resist taking a bunch of pictures.
The older kids hardly held still for long enough to get any of them besides when they took a snack break!Anyway we'll have to try to do it again before summer is over.
Thanks girls!

Happy 60th Birthday today Mom!!!

Today is my Mom's 60th Birthday!
(I know... she doesn't look anywhere near 60 does she???)
I wish we could be there to celebrate with you today Mom, but I can't wait for our girls night out in a couple weeks :)

I'm taking my Mom to see Josh Turner at the Uinta County Fair in Evanston on the 25th!
Thanks for all you do for us and for always being such a great Mom (and Grandma)!
We love you!

My first Blog book...

I finally printed my blog! Well at least the first 6 months of it. It has turned into such a great journal for me, that not long after I started it I decided that I wanted to find a way to print it. I heard about www.blog2print.com from a friend and decided to check it out. It was really easy to do...it only took me about an hour to get it ready to go, then I ordered it and got it within a couple weeks. It's just a paperback 8 1/2 by 11 book with all of my posts from 2008 including pictures. It's really simple, but all I really wanted was to have it on paper. I'm always in fear that somehow my blog will be deleted or something and I really love having it to look back on. Now I need to work on the first half of 2009!

I can't believe this week it's been a year since I started my blog.
Happy Birthday blog!

We Love The...

(yes I know "Fourth" is spelled wrong...but hey a kid did it!)
It has always been one of my favorite holidays and now it's even more fun with kids.
To see the excitement and wonder in their eyes as they watch (and set off) fireworks is the best! I love it!
We had a really fun weekend. Lars got Friday off, so he spent the day fishing, then after he got home we went over to our friends, the Villas (Gio & Aurora)... ...for a barbeque and let the kids do some party poppers and snaps.
So simple, but SO fun for them!Even the little ones loved pretending...
Then it was off to watch the big fireworks.
Gunnar was excited and he didn't even know why!
He was so happy all night long...After being stuck in traffic for an hour and a half last year on our way home from watching them, we decided to just go watch them at Lundstrom park and leave before they were over. We had planned on meeting up with the Villas but never did find eachother. The park was packed and it was pitch dark. But we still had fun just the four of us. The kids had their glow sticks and loved running around with them, then we all sat on a blanket and watched the fireworks.
Gunnar kept rolling around on the blanket and laughing...Ashton loves the fireworks every year, but it was so fun to see Gunnar's reaction since this was really the first year he saw them. He would look up in the sky at them with wide eyes, then look over at me, like "WOW...did you see that Mommy??" He even made all the oooh....ahhhh... sound effects! It was so cute to watch! He LOVED them! So as planned we picked up our stuff and left after about 25 minutes, beat the traffic and were home in about 10 minutes. Saturday we slept in a little then got up and made it out to the Hyrum parade with about 10 minutes to spare before it started. It is such a huge parade and soooo many people go to it. I really didn't think we'd find a spot, but we actually didn't walk far and found a really good one. Ashton absolutely loves parades...and really what kid doesn't like going and getting candy thrown at them for no apparent reason?? He waved at every float in the hopes of getting their attention and getting some candy thrown his way... He came home with way too much taffy to add to the basket of Easter candy I think we still have left.
Gunnar even got in on the fun...
To miss the traffic we did our same leave early trick and left about 3/4 of the way through and made it home in about 10 minutes again.
Just in time to start prepping stuff for our barbeque. My Mom & Step-Dad and my Uncle Charlie and his fiance' Deborah and her three kids came down for the afternoon. It was fun to have them all at our house to eat good food, and the kids had a blast together.
Oh and Deborah's little boy happens to be a Gunnar too!
Here they are together...We also invited our great friends and back yard neighbors Kent and Debbie over and Debbie brought some of her fabulous cookies to share. Yum!
Then it was time for everyone to go, so we cleaned up and took a break before we finally let Ashton get out some of the fireworks. He couldn't stand to wait any longer. Really the 4th is right up there with Christmas, Easter and Halloween to him.
He LOVE, LoVe, LOvEs fireworks.I think Gunnar will follow in his footsteps...he already had no fear of them and loved watching everyone set them off and even threw a few snaps...
Lars took Ashton shopping that morning and told him he had a budget that he had to stick to, so he really needed to think about what he wanted to get and stay in the budget. At first he wanted the giant box with a variety (but mostly fountains) in it. Then after walking around the store with it, he decided he wanted to trade it in for a smaller box that had tanks, and a few other different ones that he liked better. His favorites are of course sparklers, tanks and party poppers and snaps.
So Lars and he started before dark setting some off, then 3 other families in the neighborhood came to join us and we took our party across the street to the big open spot and everyone set theirs off together. It was a fun night and just a really fun weekend!
Hope you all had a happy 4th too!

The rest of our Bear Lake trip...

I'm finally getting around to posting stuff from the rest of our Bear Lake weekend. On Saturday like I said we got up pretty early since it gets light so early and our room was so bright. So we ate our cereal and yogurt that we brought with us and then just kind of hung out in the room for awhile. Then Lars took the boys back to the park while I got ready for the day and by the time they got back and I was ready, it was time for Gunnar to take his morning nap, so I laid him down and read my book for a little while (till I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer) and I napped a little with him. Lars and Ashton walked down to the beach and set up our chairs and umbrella to save our spot for the day, then hung out there while we napped. I have to say that it was so nice that I "had" to stay in the room with Gunnar while he was napping those few times. These days naps are rare for me (and I miss them so much!) so to sit there and read my book till I was too tired and then just get to fall asleep for an hour with no interruptions really made it a vacation for me!
By the time Gunnar woke up, Lars and Ashton were going to meet our friends (Nate and Brianne Hanson & kids) at the front gates of the resort so they could come in and hang out with us for the day.
First a little history about the Hansons...Nate was one of Lars' best friends in high school and also his best man at our wedding and Brianne has become a great friend of mine over the years. They just haven't lived here until last week when they finally moved back to Cache Valley! Nate is actually the new dermatologist at the Budge Clinic, so we have been so looking forward to their return and it's great to have them back! They have 3 little boys (and baby boy #4 on the way), so it will be fun for all of our kids to get to hang out now too.
Anyway they met us for the day and we all hung out on the beach for awhile, then went to lunch before they headed home.

I didn't get any good pictures of the adults, but here are some of the kids playing...

Here are Dax (left), Luke (back facing out) and Ashton and Gunnar...
And here is their youngest (for a couple more months!) Alex with Gunnar. They were both rolling around in this muddy puddle and eating sand.
They will be great buddies! After lunch we came back to our room again Gunnar and I had another nap.
Lars took Ashton miniature golfing at the little course on the resort. He loved it! He wanted to play another game, but they decided to go to the beach again instead.
Then after Gunnar and I woke up we walked down to the beach and met them. The boys had more fun playing in the sand and water and chasing seagulls...And Ashton walked around carrying this little chair bag for a long time saying he was a garbage man as he picked up little pieces of trash to put in it...Gunnar's cute little sandy feet...he had it everywhere you could imagine! ...then we decided to head back to the room and get cleaned up and go find someplace for dinner. We ended up going to Lakeside Pizza and it was pretty good and not very busy. Then after going back to our room for a few minutes we went and got ice cream at the little ice cream store on the resort.

After all what is a vacation without ice cream???

Then it was time to go get ready for bed. The boys slept pretty good again and even slept in till 7:00 that morning. After we got up we got ready and packed up all of our stuff and checked out by 9:00.

Ashton thought it was so fun to be the one to open the door to our room...After we checked out we stopped off for breakfast and then it was time to head home...

Bye-bye Bear Lake!It was such a fun weekend...I think we'll make it a yearly trip now!
