Hobble Creek camping...

For as long as I can remember I have heard my Dad, Grandpa, Mom, and cousin Neil talk about camping at Hobble Creek when I was little. Always stories about it, but I never knew exactly where it was and had never been back till this summer.
Lars really wanted to do a camping trip there so we planned it and went and stayed 2 nights one weekend. It's kind of a long drive and half of it on a dirt road, but soooo pretty there and a fun little campground that we all but had to ourselves!
We got there on Friday afternoon and set up camp and hung out around there that night. We even brought the bunk cots for the boys. They are a pain to set up and take down, but they love them and have so much fun on them.
They all went and played in the creek that night then we had dinner and a fire and on Saturday we got up and had breakfast and got ready to do the hike up to Lake Alice.
The trail starts right near where we camped and goes up a mile and a half. Lots of complaining on the way up, but it was so worth it to get to the top and to the lake.
So pretty!
We had packed a lunch and fishing stuff and stayed a few hours.
We caught a few fish...
The boys still complained while we were up there for awhile, but then got busy carving sticks for awhile...
And then finally decided to just get in and it became the funnest place ever...
No towels or extra clothes of course, so Gunnar put Lars' shirt on to dry off :)
After they dried off enough we had a rock skipping contest then headed back down. Lars has a hidden talent with that...he has some mad rock skipping skills and obviously won!
The hike down was much faster and not any complaining!
That was the day my knee started hurting again though, so I iced it and stretched a lot when we got back.
They shot their bows a lot while we were there and of course sat around and played in the fire. We love camping!
Everyone slept pretty good in the tent and after getting up and having breakfast on Sunday we started the big project of taking everything down and re-packing up the truck! It is a lot of work...but worth these camping memories for sure :)

So glad to see your pictures of Hobble Creek and Lake Alice. Memories of when I was a Demander :)
