5 days till he's 5...

Whether I like it or not, Gunnar is going to turn 5 in 5 days. He is counting down the days and I am looking back on the last 5 years wishing it didn't go by so fast and that I could just freeze time. Or at least slow it down.
How is he already almost 5?
It makes me sad, but it is also so fun to see the fun little person he has grown into.
Of course I took him out to get a few pictures of him so I could make his birthday invitation.
He wasn't too excited, but it's amazing what he'll do for a mini pack of m&m's :)
Man I love this kid...
Here's his birthday invitation...he can hardly wait till his party!
Oh and I got him all registered for Kindergarten...he did great on the little assessment, they said he's all ready to go!

Kindergarten Registration...

How can it already be time for this day?
Even though Gunnar won't actually start kindergarten for another 5 months or so, I am already sad. :(
I take him to get registered tomorrow and just can't believe he is almost 5 and will be starting so soon. I got everything ready this morning to take with us tomorrow...birth certificate, immunization card etc...
I have loved having him home with me all of these years and am so grateful every day that I've had the opportunity to just stay home with him and do what I love most in the world...be his and Ashton's Mom.
He loves to play at home and loves for me to get down and play with him. I always have a hundred chores to do, but I try to remind myself that soon these days will be gone and even when he is at home, I won't be his first choice to play with.
He loves blocks and cars and lately really loves Legos again. I love to just sit and talk to him while we play, he is so funny.
He still gets up pretty early these days and always wants breakfast first thing, usually cereal. But then not long after he's done, he tells me he's hungry again!
So one day when he said "I'm hungry Mom." (right after he'd eaten) I said..."Gunnar you are always hungry!" He thought about it for a second then said "Was I born at lunchtime?" haha :) As a matter of fact he was born around lunchtime...12:52 pm...makes sense. He has always been hungry!
My baby sure is growing up.
He's counting down the days till he turns 5.
And I keep telling him he needs to stay 4...

Weekend in Wyoming...

Lars is in Vegas and has been since Friday, so I decided to load up and take the boys to Grandma and Grandpa Harry's house for the weekend. We took off right after we picked Gunnar up from school on Friday. They were both SO excited and couldn't wait to get going.
They watched the 4th Harry Potter on the way...I keep forgetting to post that Ashton made it through that book a few weeks ago.
He has to take what are called AR tests at school on books that he's read (basically reading comprehension tests) and he said after he took the test on that book, he now has over 75 AR points! He told me he's in the 75 point club now...oh and he's the only one in that club! So proud of him...he is such a great reader :)
Anyway we had a fun weekend. Ashton spent HOURS playing Grandma's piano and it was so nice to have her there helping him. Luckily he never asks me for help since I have no clue.
He just always says it's all so easy....everything his teacher has him doing so far. So he loved practicing some harder songs with Grandma. I am so so glad he is loving it so much and pray he continues to...it has been so good for him!
Gunnar happily played with Legos and some new little block sets Grandma bought for them :)
We went to church Saturday night and then out to dinner at Suds Brothers. Ashton loves cheeseburgers now, so that is always his request when we go out to eat. Gunnar loves alfredo noodles.
We decided to stay most of the day on Sunday and they were mostly still happy to just play inside. I finally got out of my lazy mode and made myself go for a run. I made it 3 miles and it was hard. Lars reminded me that the elevation is a lot higher, so that made sense why I had a hard time catching my breath. Anyway it was a beautiful day so as soon as I got back, I talked the boys into getting their snow clothes on and heading outside to play on the huge snow pile.
They had a blast on that for awhile.
My new favorite picture of Ashton...
 Cutie :)
I gradually got all of our stuff packed up and we headed out about 4:30 new time. I love taking the boys there and hope that they grow up having great memories of Grandma and Grandpa Harry's house like I do of my grandparents houses. :)

Happy Birthday yesterday Ashley & Beth!

I meant to get on last night and post this, but I was too tired after driving back from Wyoming...
Anyway, Happy Birthday you guys!
I hope you had a great day :)

I was looking through pictures and found this one...
We really need to find a way to get together soon...I miss you guys!
And I sure miss Grandpa's house (when it was his house;)

Ice Fishing...

A few Sundays ago after church we decided to get out and enjoy the beautiful day and take some of our friends ice-fishing.
We went out to Hyrum and it was not good fishing, but the kids all had a lot of fun playing in the snow and having a big snowball fight with our neighbor Trever that also went with us.
 We did catch a few...
Fun making forts for a while...
I love these pictures of Ashton...

Basktball is over!

I guess we shouldn't be so excited about this, but basketball took up every Saturday for the past 2 months (games were always right in the middle of the day) and when your kid isn't really that into it and fights you to go, it's not very fun!
Actually Ashton did really well and liked it once he got there, it was just getting him to go.
And Lars coached the team, so we couldn't really skip any games.
Anyway, I'm glad he got some exercise and practice with basketball, but yes we're all glad it's over! He likes so many other things more than sports.
A few pictures I took on Saturday...
Lars did a really good job coaching...it's too bad Ashton doesn't want to play again. Oh well maybe Gunnar will take an interest in it...
It was a cute little team...the one little girl did so well!

Blue and Gold Banquet...

Last week we all went to Ashton's Blue and Gold Banquet for scouts.
Ashton was so excited to go get his badges and belt loops that he's been earning for doing scout stuff. Lars has done a lot of stuff with him, so he earned quite a few this time.
Getting ready to go...oh how he hates wearing jeans!
The whole family goes up with him to get his badges and belt loops...
He gets a pin to present to me when he earns certain ones...
He walked up with the boys that took the flag...
I am so glad he is loving scouts!
