Ashton has been preparing for months for a very important day in his life as a Catholic, and last Saturday that day finally came. He received his First Holy Communion. It was such a special day.
The mass was at 10:00 am at our church St. Thomas Aquinas in Hyde Park.
Ashton and I had gone to the practice the night before after Gunnar's preschool graduation.
Grandma, and Nana & Papa were all able to be here for it too. Aunt Kelli planned to come too, but got the stomach flu really bad the day before :(
Some pictures from the day...
Me on my First Communion Day...a lot of years ago!
Seems like we were just having him baptized as a tiny baby, and now he's 8!
After we got home we had a yummy lunch of pulled bbq chicken sandwiches, fruit, chips, veggie pizza, potato salad, coleslaw and cupcakes. Grandma and Nana & Papa stayed for that, then needed to head home. Me on my First Communion Day...a lot of years ago!
I am always so so grateful for our faith in our lives and that we are passing
it onto our boys! And so glad that Ashton can now participate in the Eucharist with us every weekend at Mass. :)
