7 little steps...

It finally happened this afternoon...Gunnar took his first real steps! Up until this point he had taken 1 or 2 a few times, but he took 7 in a row today! I was holding him and put him down and he wanted the cell phone that Ashton had and walked right towards it. I don't think he even knew he was doing it...he had his eye on the prize!
Exactly one week before he turns 1!
So congrats Cassidy!!...Your guess of March 17th was the closest!
Email me your address and then check the mail for your prize!
I haven't gotten a video or picture of him doing it yet, but I bet he'll be practicing his new skill the next few days!
And before we know it he'll be running to keep up with Ashton...

Loving these first warmer days...

It has been so nice to have it warm up here and be able to get outside and enjoy it. We went down to the river trail last Sunday...we love to let Ashton ride his bike there and he loves to explore and stop to throw rocks in the river. Gunnar is getting to where he wants to be down with him, but that day he had to watch from the stroller.
He looks pretty happy though right?
I love the look on his face in this picture!
Ashton taking a break...
This is a pretty good ride too...Here's Ashton having lunch outside with his buddy Jace yesterday...they were so excited to get to eat outside, then they buried dinosaurs in the sandbox. All I hear about from him these days is friends, friends, friends...Luckily he has a whole street full of them to play with. This summer will be so fun for him!

Today we had more family pictures taken. I had a gift certificate that Lars had given me back when I was pregnant with Gunnar that was about to expire, so we finally got them done today. Who knows how they turned out. The boys weren't too cooperative.
Way too much fun stuff to get down and explore.
However I did get Gunnar's one year pictures taken yesterday (by Brittany Cascio...who took our pictures a few months ago) and I am so excited about how they turned out! I can't wait to get them back and put some on here. She did some really cute stuff and he did so good! You never know what to expect with kids and pictures, but since we let him get down and play he was loving it!

I also got these cute shots of him today on the railroad tracks after the other photographer left...
(my favorite!)
All of these pictures are wearing me out Mom...gotta take a break! (yes I have a picture addiction that drives Lars absolutely crazy!)

The hat...

Gunnar is so funny...he LOVES this play hard hat of Ashton's. If it's out he has it on. He wears it all around and if it falls off he puts it right back on and thinks he's so funny!
I Love it!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

We had a fun day today...Ashton, Gunnar and I met my Mom, my Grandpa, my Uncle Charlie and his girlfriend Deborah in Morgan for lunch. If you're ever there and want some good fried chicken...you have to go check out Larry's Spring Chicken. It is so good and you all know how picky I am (especially about meat!) It worked out great because Ashton was out of school today for a teacher work day. And what a beautiful day! When we got there Ashton was getting out of the car and said in amazement
"Wow, they have zero snow here!"
We beat them there by about 10 minutes, so the boys had fun playing outside.
It felt so good to be warm!

Here's Gunnar making his new little scowly face...Of course I dressed the boys in green ...and I did have a green shirt on this morning, but the particular shirt I had on was bugging me, so I changed. So then when I was telling Ashton about how everyone is supposed to wear green today and if they don't then they get pinched...he says, but Mommy you're not wearing green. So I told him that yes I was...my underwear are green! Then he kind of thought about it for a minute and said..."well if anyone tries to pinch you, I'll punch them." Classic Ashton! I told him that he didn't need to do that, and that people just pinch nicely. I was so proud of him today...he was great in the car both ways and did great all through lunch as well. He was even patient and agreeable when we stopped off at Target, then Payless...then finally Walmart in Riverdale on our search for his new flip flops that he earned.

He was soooo excited to pick them out. He's been earning them for a few weeks with a sticker chart and actually had earned them last week, but was being a little stinker in Old Navy right when we were going to pick them out and bonked Gunnar in the head, so there went his chance that day to get them. You should have seen them both bawling their heads off in the middle of Old Navy! I guess some people let that stuff get to them, but I honestly don't care if people are staring at me...there was no way I was just going to give in and give him the flip flops...just to get him to be quiet!

He definitely earned them today though.

(why did he have to earn flip flops you ask???...I know it sounds silly and of course he would have probably gotten some new ones for this summer, but he came home one day begging for some because a friend had some and I don't want him to think that he just gets whatever he wants just because someone else has it...that's why.

Anyway even the snow in our yard is almost melted again after these past few warmer days! What a change again from last week.
Great to see you Mom, Charlie and Grandpa and nice to meet you Deborah!

What a difference a day makes...

Yesterday almost all of the snow in our yard was melted! This is what we woke up to today...And that was only the beginning of it. It snowed non stop all day today and now we have more than a foot in our yard again. Lars measured it when he got home tonight and there were 14 new inches and it was still lightly snowing! What was I just saying about spring and summer? ha!
Did I mention that I'm sick of winter???
Here are Gunnar and Ashton playing at the park just yesterday...
Ashton with his buddy Dante...
Gunnar LOVING the swing!
He was giggling most of the time while I was pushing him...
And here's his cute little girlfriend Amalia...check out her cute little purple cast. She broke her leg a few weeks ago :( She's 6 weeks older than Gunnar. They are so cute together...both with their red hair!My friend Aurora came over for dinner with her 3 kids Dante, Julius and little Amalia after we went to the park...the babies were helping us with the dishes :) I do have to say that I am somewhat thankful for the snow today because we stayed in all day and I got A LOT done. All of my laundry is done, the whole house is clean, including the playroom that was a complete disaster!
Here it is after...I should have put a before picture I guess...I even took all of the toys in the toybox upstairs and switched them with a bunch from downstairs and it entertained the boys for a long time this afternoon. Which was nice since Gunnar's naps were both only half an hour today! Little stinker!

I can't wait for spring and summer!

With winter dragging on again, like it always does it has me thinking about warmer days. So I decided to blog about one of my favorite days that was almost 2 years ago...
It was spring 2007, a couple months before I got pregnant with Gunnar. Lars, Ashton and I decided to go over to Bear Lake for the day. On the way we stopped off to hike up Limber Pine trail in the canyon. It was fun to take Ashton on that little hike and see the giant tree at the end of it...He loved being able to walk along with us (and ride on Lars' shoulders on the way down) and loved seeing some snow that was left up there that hadn't melted yet.

This cool bent tree was on the way up the trail...Once we got over to Bear Lake, we just hung out all day. It was such a nice day for May! Ashton played and played and played just finding things in the sand and running around and pretending. I had a good book to read and Lars brought his fly rod and had fun trying to catch the nasty carp that stay close to the bank there. I loved Ashton's reaction to the fish...he wanted to touch them, but couldn't quite bring himself to do it! After Lars caught a few he handed the rod over to me and I even caught one. It was fun to wade out into the shallow water...strangely it wasn't even very cold.

When we finally decided to leave it was dinnertime so we went over and had pizza in Garden City.

I have these couple of pictures framed on my computer desk...so I look at them every day and have such great memories of that perfect day! We always feel lucky to be so close to Logan Canyon and Bear Lake.

We can't wait to go over this year and stay for a weekend...could be interesting with Gunnar :)

I cashed in another Christmas gift tonight...

I went and got my massage after Lars got home from work. My gift certificate was getting ready to expire in a couple weeks, so I figured I better go use it....and it was sooo nice!
I've only ever before gotten one massage about 8 years ago when Lars and I and his family went to Glenwood Springs, CO. I guess the whole stripping down like you're at the doctor isn't very appealing to me, so I was nervous about it all day. I remember awhile before Christmas Lars had asked me if I would want to go get a massage and I told him NO! So he went ahead and got me the gift certificate anyway. I guess he knew that I would love it once I was there...and he was right. The girl that did it was so nice and did such a great job. I didn't even know this little spa was right here in Providence in case anyone is interested. It's called Brio~AVEDA Concept Day Spa and Salon and they do everything else there you could imagine too. The girl I went to was Heather and I would totally recommend her! It was so relaxing. Thanks for another great gift hunnie...you can stick another one in my stocking every year!
Oh and when I walked in the door...dinner was on the table too :)
I'm spoiled!
