Last weekend Lars decided he wanted to take us to Salt Lake for a little getaway to celebrate paying off our truck on Friday (yahoo! can't believe we've had it for 4 years...I was big and pregnant with Gunnar when we bought it on Valentine's Day 2008)...
And Ashton was just a cute little 3 year old!
Anyway...as well as celebrate his bonus and raise. We gladly accepted :)
I had a Lenten retreat at church Saturday morning, which was really nice and relaxing, so he stayed home with the boys and started getting stuff ready for us to head out of town. So after I got home at about 1:00 we finished getting packed up and headed down to Salt Lake. After about an hour and a half that morning of trying to decide where to stay and get the best deal, Lars decided on the Hilton downtown. We hadn't stayed there before and it ended up being really nice. We checked in about 3:30 or so and the boys immediately changed into their swimsuits and headed for the pool. And I followed fully clothed with my camera :)
Someone has to capture these moments!

The pool was nice, but as soon as Ashton jumped in he realized he couldn't touch the bottom, so obviously Gunnar couldn't either. So Lars sent me to the gift shop to look for arm floaties. (See...good thing I was dressed!)
And lo' and behold they had some, and Ashton and Gunnar LOVED them!
I was actually thankful for the pool being too deep. They had so much fun swimming around with their new floaties!
Of course Lars still stuck right by them, but they worked out great.
I think this picture is SO cute!
Right after I took it, Gunnar sucked some water in and got really upset...
But then they got right back to playing :)
So after about 2 hours of swimming we got them out and showered and ready for dinner. Macaroni Grill was right across the street, so we decided to go there. Seems like we end up there a lot when we come to Salt Lake. It was SO good! I think the boys were starving after all of their pool time, so they ate really well too.
After that, we headed back to our room and let them play for about half an hour, then we all went to bed.
Ashton as usual struggled for a bit to fall asleep in a bed different than his own, but eventually his tiredness won out and they slept good all night together till 7:45 new time.
We wanted to let them swim again in the morning so we got up, got dressed and went downstairs to the breakfast buffet, then back to the pool for another 2 hours. So much fun :)
Love, love this picture of Gunnar!
And both of these next ones too...so happy :)
After they played and played we got them out and showered and ready to get checked out by noon and headed to the zoo. Gunnar had still never been and it was supposed to be another beautiful day, so we decided to finally do it.
Ashton had only been once I believe when he was 2 1/2.

Besides the wind and for some reason tons of BEES, it was a fun day. Neither one of our boys is totally into animals, but they had fun looking at all of them, playing on the little playground and riding the little train.
We spent about 3 hours, then headed home.
After many weekends hanging out at home INSIDE, it was a fun little much needed getaway.
Thanks for working so hard for us hunnie...you deserve every penny of your bonus and raise and we appreciate everything you do for us!

What a fun weekend! Those swimming pictures are too cute!
I can hardly believe it was 4 years ago that you got your truck. I love that adorable picture of three year old Ashton in it :)
