Feeling grateful again...

Ashton is doing great in school. He really loves it, and I love that I get to volunteer in his class once a week. I go for an hour on Wednesdays and it is one of the highlights of my week. I'm able to do this because my sister is staying with us and can stay home with Gunnar while he naps. I'm so grateful and often think of things I wouldn't be able to be doing if she weren't here. I even got to go on his first field trip with him last week. His first ever ride on a school bus. It was so fun...we went to the Stokes Nature Center a little ways up Logan Canyon. We'd been before with some friends, so it was fun to get to go again. It was a perfect fall day and the kids all loved it.Kindergarteners are so cute!
I love getting to know all of Ashton's little classmates, and I love to see how he acts at school. I have to admit that I've been a little bit surprised at how quiet he is and how he sits and does all of his work so nicely with so much concentration. He's always been really smart (I'm not surprised he's doing well) but come on we all know...he is not a quiet kid!

And his handwriting is SO nice! I like to say he gets it from me...I always loved reading and writing. Thank goodness for Lars when we get into math and science. Not my favorites!

Most days lately I put Ashton's bike in the back of the car, then let him ride it home as I drive along with him.

He's so cute to watch. We will miss these nice fall days as winter looms ahead.

Anyway thank you Kelli for making it so I can have the opportunity to spend time with Ashton at school, and way to go Ashton on your first couple months ...you're doing great!

Last Weekend...

Nana & Papa and Aunt Shelley, Hunter and Ali came to visit. We had a lot of fun...

Friday we went out to the American West Heritage Center for their corn maze and other fun fall activities. Cute little blackout maze...Papa navigated us through the big maze.

Good thing...I never would have found my way out!Ashton was so funny at one point...after making his way through some corn stalks (off the beaten path), he says "Wow, that was really Corny!" haha!Gotcha Ali!! She wouldn't let me take her picture all weekend...Then we went out to eat at Texas RoadHouse that night...yum!

Saturday we went fishing in Idaho at a place called Johnson reservoir. Kind of a crappy little place, but we caught lots of little fish, so it was fun. We were excited to see Ashton actually having a little more interest in fishing!

Gunnar mostly played in the dirt and threw rocks in the water.

Oh and played with worms!
Then that night we made our yummy shrimp kabobs and had movie night.

We watched How to Train your Dragon...such a cute show!

Blue Bear

Gunnar has had this guy since, well since before he was born.

He likes him, but has never been super attatched to him. But the other day he carried him around with him all day and he wanted to take him outside after his nap. He had so much fun throwing him around and pretending with him for a good hour while I took a ton of pictures.

He laughed and laughed and laughed.

These pictures make me smile :)

It reminded me of another little photo shoot I did with Blue Bear when Gunnar was much smaller...

Going home.
Since Lars was going to be gone hunting all week and Ashton didn't have school on Monday and Tuesday, I decided it was a perfect weekend to take a trip to Wyoming to visit Grandma and Grandpa Harry. We had such a fun time...the weather was actually nice & the boys were entertained the entire time.

They love it there!

They played in the sandbox...On the swingset... Had hours of fun playing with lots of the toys my Mom saved from when my brothers and sister and I were little...(Ashton LOVES to play Memory!)

...they helped Grandma in the barn, even FINALLY rode a little horse! Okay I had to bribe Ashton with a $2.00 bill, but once he got on, he loved it like I knew he would. Gunnar sat on the back with him for a few minutes, then he was done. Sunday we all drove up to Harry's land and had a barbeque. It was just like camping (without sleeping over!) to the boys. They had so much fun, and it brought back great memories for me of when he and my Mom used to take us up there. It looked a little different because recently they had to cut down over 1300 pine trees on his land, due to beetles! So there were stacks and stacks of logs all over...wouldn't they build a beautiful cabin?? We tested out this pile to make sure they weren't going to roll, then Ashton and Gunnar had fun playing on them forever.Thanks for a fun weekend Grandma and Grandpa Harry!

He got one!

Congratulations hunnie on your big buck!

If you know Lars, you know that his favorite things in the world (besides the boys and me of course:) are hunting and fishing. He looks forward to hunting in the fall all year long.

A lot of times if he's just sitting there thinking, I can look at him and ask him what he's thinking about and know that he's going to say hunting...or fishing depending on the season!

Anyway he was so excited this year to go on his big Wyoming deer hunt that he drew out on. He even took a week off of work this year. He left last Friday and ended up shooting his deer on Monday, then coming back Tuesday after the other 2 guys he was with shot theirs.

So he got back a couple hours after we got back from being in Wyoming all weekend...I'm working on that long post.

It was a nice surprise to have him home early!

He said he shot him 3 1/2 miles away from where the truck was, so imagine packing this guy (not just his head!) on your back for 3 1/2 miles!!

Way to go hun!
