March 28th finally came and this little boy was SO excited!
One more sleep Mommy...the night before :)
Then he was "READY TO WAKE UP!" (he yells this every morning just like Ashton always did rather than just coming out of his room) at 7:00 am. Remember he was sleeping in till 8:30? Yep he was excited! And I had been excited to get up at 7:00 to make sure I got his breakfast in bed ready. He beat me...Oh well I talked him into staying in bed while I got it ready. Ashton had gotten up a few minutes after him and took his DS in & played with Gunnar while I made breakfast...
Gunnar loved his 4 pancake and loved having his first breakfast in bed.
Of course Ashton joined in on the fun, the whole time asking if he got any presents too.
Gunnar opened his Leapster case, new Cars 2 game and Tickle Monster book.
He was excited and cute as always with his shy smile.
Then it was time to get Ashton ready and off to school. Aunt Kelli came down to help out and be there for Gunnar's party, so she and Gunnar played while I took Ashton to school, then we all went for a run.
Then Aunt Kelli gave Gunnar his gift from her and he loved it! Magz...
Fun magnet building set. He has played and played with it. Thanks Aunt Kelli :)At noon we met Lars for lunch at McDonald's. Well we grabbed Subway for us, but let Gunnar get his happy meal and play in playland...Birthday boy gets to choose!
By the time we got done Grandma got to town, so she met us at Walmart to get our balloons blown up (way too big by the way...half of them popped within the hour. grrrr).
Anyway then we headed home so I could finish the cake.
One of my faves so far...
Did I mention we love monsters??
Gunnar loved watching me put his "fur" on him. And loved how he turned out...
His eyes are suckers covered in white candy melts and black paint for the center. Totally not edible...oh well :) And his mouth is fondant...(not edible in my opinion either.)
I love thinking of ideas for cakes and decorating them! But couldn't do it without my sister there to help me with the gazillion dishes, and well she actually baked the cakes...can't forget to mention that. Oh and made the frosting and fondant...haha! Wait, what part did I do again?
Thanks Kelli :)
So after Lars got home we ate a quick dinner and headed down to the "green park" where we had celebrated Gunnar's 2nd Birthday.
I guess I just need to accept that chances are pretty good that we WON'T have nice weather on March 28th. Ever.
Every year so far it has been super windy & a bit chilly. Flash back to his 1st Birthday
...we had his party inside, but had plenty of wind to fly kites outside afterwards. And of course we flew kites on his second too. Last year on his 3rd, it must have been just way too cold to even attempt to have it outside and this year we SHOULD have had kites.
I think every year from now on I will just put "bring a kite to fly" (or come build a snowman!) on the invitations and maybe we will finally have a calm day.
Anyway.......
Even with the wind, it was a fun party. Kids never care about the weather...half of them were running around without coats on.
Gunnar invited a couple little boys from his school as well as Amalia and Owen and we also had Amalia's family and the Hansons.
Him and his boy buddies :)

Thanks for all of your help Grandma...I love this picture of me with two of my very favorite people in the world :)
First we opened presents, and got LOTS of fun new stuff...Super cute monster hat from Hansons :)
Fun kids video camera from us...
So excited about his new playhouse from Grandma & Grandpa Harry...
Opening his new Ninjago pajamas...I love the look on his little friend Carter's face, hahahaha :)
And the look on his face here...
(oh and he's hardly taken them off since he got home that night :)
And lots of other stuff...it just takes WAY to long to upload pictures onto here and I need to go to bed!
After presents he wanted to do the pinata...

You are so adorable, fun, smart, sensitive, SO funny, caring, giving, helpful, sometimes feisty, kissable, huggable, snuggle-able, and just an all around awesome kid. We love you SO SO much and feel blessed to have you in our family every single day.
Glad you can finally say you're "Fo"!
